During the spring of 2004, my husband, Gerry, and I were moving to the Atlanta area from the Chicago suburbs. We selected an area and began interviewing builders to work with us. Our criteria for selection included a knowledgeable builder who could demonstrate an excellent finished product. It was very important to us that the builder was not only technically proficient building a highly custom home, but was also interested in learning about our expectations, our life style and what would be needed in a house we would love, one in which we would enjoy our family and friends. We interviewed four builders and selected Rob Malone because he built a beautiful home and because he is extremely customer focused.
Rob was very willing to show us examples of his work which were excellent. We incorporated many of the examples into our house because they were such beautiful additions to any home: Built in cabinetry, various ceiling styles, custom lighting, beautiful moldings throughout, excellent exterior materials. He also offered his thoughts to help direct our thinking so we would end with a product which had been carefully planned and the plan very professionally and carefully executed. Not only did Rob consult with us, he also works with an excellent group of subcontractors who were guided by the level of quality Rob expects for his product and his customer’s homes.
Certainly the end product is most important but working with a builder who listens, offers great ideas and is wonderful to work with enhances the whole building experience – one that should be fun and often is not due to conflicts. Rob stands by his work, is honest, has a very high level of integrity and is an all-around pleasure. Gerry and I would recommend Rob Malone to anyone who is searching for a builder who will build a beautiful home, a builder who is a complete pleasure to work with. After years of living over an unfinished, walk-out basement, my wife & I decided it was high time to make it a livable space that we as well as family & friends would enjoy. Rob Malone, RJ Custom Builders, came to us highly recommended by close friends. In addition to finishing the basement, our phased projects would include; (1) a Trex deck with gazebo on the upper level of the house, (2) a covered patio with dog run off the basement, all connected via staircase to the deck upstairs, & (3) landscaping in the back yard with staircase access from the driveway above. The basement plans included (1) a pub room with full service, octagon wet bar, high end cabinetry, & a two-tiered granite counter, (2) a media/TV room with theater system, ventless fireplace with surrounding cabinetry, (3) a large home office with wifi access, & (4) a guest suite with ¾ bath. Our instructions to Rob, “Finish the basement so it’s a natural, seamless extension of the existing living spaces upstairs.” And, did he ever deliver!!! Rob, his subs, & design team were all top notch & gave us the finished spaces we wanted. It’s far more than we dreamed for the money we had to spend. The projects were all completed on time & within budget. Based on our excellent experience with the basement projects, we asked Rob & his team to come back a year or two later & upgrade our kitchen & master bath. Again, top notch work & finishes. Exactly what we asked for – within the promised schedule & budget. Because of his high-quality work & professionalism, Rob Malone is our general contractor of choice for any new home construction & reno projects.
